About
Mushrooms of Portugal
The “Mushrooms of Portugal” encyclopedia is an open reference for foragers, mycologists, and anyone interested in the fungal world of the Iberian Peninsula. We gather verified information about species, habitats, safety, culinary traditions, and science.
Principles
- Safety — all toxic and deadly species are clearly marked. When in doubt, a species is classified as more dangerous.
- Accuracy — facts are backed by sources. Unverified information is marked with special labels:
[UNVERIFIED],[DISPUTED],[FOLKLORE]. - Practicality — information for real-world use: where to look, when to forage, how to identify, how to cook.
- Bilingual — all articles in Russian and English with Portuguese terminology.
Structure
The encyclopedia includes 11 sections: mushroom species, habitats, foraging, safety, gastronomy, culture, science, practical, Setubal, guides, and stories.
Team
The project is created by the FolkUp team — we build open encyclopedias about the nature and culture of Portugal.
Support the Project
The encyclopedia is completely free and will stay that way. If you find it useful, you can support its development:
